Parkside Centre

The Parkside Centre in West Bowling is a centre managed by Bradford Trident, it is a community owned company providing support for the people of BD5, a mile or so from Bradford City centre.  The task in hand; clearing the site ready for hedgelaying. 

Blackthorn and hawthorn had to be lopped back to create safe conditions to work in, and to enable us to get close to the trunks to lay them. Goggles and substantial gloves, to protect from scratches, and diligence are a must. A huge amount of litter had to be removed as well. All this had to be carried out in torrential rain but everyone soldiered on. By 1.15pm the rain had stopped, which made everything easier. 

At the end of the day we were able to discern the existing structure of the hedge and started to decide which pleachers or stems to keep or remove. We even laid a couple of the pleachers. There is still a great deal to do.
