Conservation Volunteers

Some task days are subject to change, so please check this page the day before coming along.

We can now take volunteers in the minibus, We leave Culture Fusion at 10am, come earlier to get boots and waterproofs and to help load tools. Do get in touch if you would like a lift.

Please bring warm clothing, a packed lunch and sturdy footwear.

Conservation Work - Upcoming

Stoney Ridge Plantation

Stoney Ridge Plantation meeting by Grange Lodge, Bingley Rd, Bingley, Bradford BD9 6SA.

We will be mowing and strimming paths to improve access and creating a wildflower nursery
area.

If you would like a lift there, please be at Culture Fusion by 10am.

Bees Urban Nature Reserve

Bradford Urban nature Reserve, Laisteridge Lane Student Village, Laisteridge lane, BD5 0NH,

We will be improving access for the local nursery and visitors and carrying out
path clearance and grass cutting.

If you would like a lift there, please be at Culture Fusion by 10am.

Shipley Central Park

Shipley Central Park, Westcliffe Road, Shipley, BD18 3DX.

In the morning we will be completing our planting of early flowering plants to provide nectar for pollinating insects at times when food can be scarce, helping biodiversity in the park.

Afternoon task tbc.

Stoney Ridge Plantation

Stoney Ridge Plantation meeting by Grange Lodge, Bingley Rd, Bingley, Bradford BD9 6SA.

We are continuing repairing steps and grass cutting to improve access for Belle Vue Girls School and completing grass cutting on paths around the site.  We will also continuing to develop our wildflower nursery site. The plants will be used for local sites and projects throughout the district.

Tasks will include checking tree guards, litter picking and some work on repairing steps and path clearance.

Bracken cutting on Baildon Moor.

Baildon Moor

The task will be bracken removal on Baildon moor, this is the first of our annual visits to carry out bracken
cutting using traditional tools, such as scythes and sickles, to help increase the diversity of moorland plants on the moor. Please wear long trousers tucked into socks if coming along, to provide protection from ticks.
