Conservation Volunteers

Some task days are subject to change, so please check this page the day before coming along.

We can now take volunteers in the minibus, We leave Culture Fusion at 10am, come earlier to get boots and waterproofs and to help load tools. Do get in touch if you would like a lift.

Please bring warm clothing, a packed lunch and sturdy footwear.

Conservation Work - Upcoming

Himalayan balsam removal at sites throughout the Bradford District.

Nailor Rough, this area extends from Stoney Ridge and is quite tucked away. The meeting point will be at the end of Woodland Close, BD9 6PH. or, Chellow Dene Reservoir- Haworth Rd, Allerton, Bradford BD15 9LL. We will meet at the Haworth Road car park. Please get in touch if you need more directions.

We will be removing Himalayan balsam from either Nailor Rough or Chellow Dene depending on how far we get with Nailor Rough in the previous week and will update this page next week.

Bracken cutting on Baildon Moor.

Baildon Moor

The task will be bracken removal on Baildon moor, this is the first of our annual visits to carry out bracken
cutting using traditional tools, such as scythes and sickles, to help increase the diversity of moorland plants on the moor. Please wear long trousers tucked into socks if coming along, to provide protection from ticks.
