Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve, nr York

A site of 157 hectares, which borders the River Derwent and consists of lowland meadow and pasture as well as wetlands.  There are good paths running alongside the edge of the meadow where 3 hides are available for viewing.  The area attracts thousands of overwintering waders and an abundant number of wildfowl.  Walking should be limited to no more than 2 miles.  Stout footwear is advisable as the area can be liable to flooding.
