Conservation Work - Past

Tree, hedge and climber planting at Lidget Green Primary School

Lidget Green Primary School, Birks Fold, Bradford BD7 2QN.

We will be planting a jam fruit hedge, climbers, a wildlife hedge and some standard trees over the next two days.

If you would like to join us please bring along a packed lunch and warm clothes. 

If you would like a lift in the minibus do get in touch. You will need to be at Culture Fusion by 8.50 if you would like a lift.

Tree Planting at Newhall Park

Newhall Park. Bradford. There are two entrances, one on Newhall Park Drive near BD5 8FB- where the 635, 620, 686 and 508 buses all go, or via Bierley Lane near BD4 6DU which the 620 and 635 buses also go on.

We will be spending  this week completing the tree planting for Newhall Park from Saturday the 27th of November. 

We still have limited passengers in the minibus due to Covid precautions, while infections are still high, but can take 7 volunteers with a space between each seat in the minibus.  Please get in touch if you would like a lift.

We are not sure how easy parking will be if you drive there, but will try and find out before this task day.

Please bring warm clothing, sturdy footwear and a packed lunch. We can provide waterproofs and boots if you let us know what size you need beforehand.

Trees for Cities Launch Newhall Park

This is the Launch of the Trees for Cities Newhall Park Planting Day, which will run from 10-3pm and the plan is to plant 8,000 trees.

Lower Fields Primary Academy

Lower Fields Primary Academy. Fenby Ave, Bradford BD4 8RG

We will be pruning back some top heavy branches on a large willow dome and weaving it in to start to redefine the shape,  coppicing in the woodland if the trees are dormant and removing brambles.

Please get in touch if you would like a lift in the minibus and save your  tickets if you would like to be reimbursed public transport travel costs. 

 

Bowling Park Community Orchard

Bowling Park Community Orchard. Bowling Park Drive. Bradford. BD4 7ES

We will be harvesting and sorting through apples in preparation for an apple juicing and dehydrating day the following week at Culture Fusion.

We are also hoping to build a leaf mold bin and if time allows some hedge cutting. 

Please let us know if you would like a lift in the minibus. Also, we can reimburse public transport costs if you keep your tickets.

Lower Fields Primary School

Lower Fields Primary Academy. Fenby Ave, Bradford BD4 8RG

We will be completing our meadow cutting and weaving in a large willow tunnel. 

We can reimburse public transport costs if you keep bus or rail tickets, or arrange a lift in the minibus if you let us know you are coming.

 

Wycliffe Primary School

Wycliffe Primary School. Saltaire Rd, Shipley BD18 3HZ.

We will continue our work in Wycliffe's wildlife area, defining a circular hardcore seating area and  adding a layer of top stone to it, before compacting using a whacker plate.

Other tasks include, clearing and planting a pond and creating a small path at the entrance to the site.

We will be carrying our our annual tasks of cutting the meadows using traditional tools such as scythes and sickles and clearing the ponds of excessive plant growth.
