Apple Day's best attendance yet!

Submitted by Jonathan on Tue, 11th Nov 2008, 1:00pm

Over 600 people attended Bradford Apple Day on the 11th October 2008 to enjoy a myriad of apple themed activities. Apples were juiced, sold, peeled for the longest peel, eaten in the apple cafe and rated by taste amongst other activities.

This was the best attendance yet since West Bowling Community Orchard began hosting Bradford Apple Day a few years back.

Children apple bobbed and played pin the maggot on the apple. They also went on bug hunts and made insect shelters. The arty amongst the visiting children also created apple day greetings cards.

Feedback was excellent with a number of letters received thanking the organisers. Thanks also to the 1in12 club and Treehouse Cafe for the catering and everyone else who was involved in making the day so enjoyable.

We ran a number of session in Centenary Square as part of the Council's Garden Magic project. For five days, Centenary Square was turned into a garden. After planting up the area with wildflowers and vegetables, we ran sessions, making bird boxes, making apple juice and creating mini-beast habitats.
